This morning, the fashion world woke up to the shocking news that supermodel Ruslana Korshunova was dead, after throwing herself from her ninth-floor apartment. Now it has emerged that the troubled model had written a number of sad and haunting messages on the internet in the weeks before her death. The 20-year-old beauty, pictured above on the catwalk with Lily Cole last year, wrote poems where she talked about being "hurt" and "lost", and also said, "My dream is to fly. Oh, my rainbow it is too high." The young star, who was originally from Kazakhstan, fell to her death in New York on Saturday and a verdict of suicide was recorded the following day. Among her internet messages were many musings about love and desire, including the chilling lines, "Do not confuse love and desire. Love does not take away from one in order to give to another. I'm so lost. Will I ever find myself?" The model also referred to herself as a "bitch" and a "witch", and in March this year she admitted, "It hurts, as if someone took a part of me, tore it out, mercilessly stomped all over and threw it out." Friends of Ruslana's say they didn't know she was suicidal, claiming that she loved life and was always happy. One friend said, "She's one of the sweetest, nicest people you'll ever meet," while another simply said, "She was an angel."

i just realised how unbelievably shallow and stupid i am and it doesnt feel great. im saving for a few surgeries honestly thinking that it would make me happy - how can your life not be amazing if you are gorgeous? clearly i am deluded and naive.

If ever there was a better way to illustrate looks not buying you happiness, this is it! Poor sweet girl with so much to live for...and yet tortured enough to do this...very sad..
