Shilpa’s new movie

We know and love her as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, but few of us have seen her act. That’s all set to change with the release next Friday (11 May) of Shilpa Shetty’s new movie Life In A… Metro. We saw it last night in a still-unfinished version, and it’s an ensemble drama about the lives and loves of twenty and thirtysomething Indians in modern, bustling Mumbai city. Shilpa plays an unhappily married housewife who falls for a sexy stranger who helps mend her umbrella at a bus stop. Cue much teary heartache and bad soap-style acting as Shilpa veers away from infidelity and sobs out lines like, “I’m stooping too low! I feel like a slut!” Traditional Bollywood songs are replaced by a rock band standing on top of tall buildings belting out power ballads, while the director attempts the world record for montages. We think he won it.
