Blake pleads with Amy to leave London:
He's not known for his words of wisdom, but this time we think Blake(still)incarcerated might have a point. The banged-up husband of Amy Winehouse has made a plea to his missus to leave London, because he fears she will come to serious harm. Amy's dad Mitch has even called a truce with the troublesome jailbird in a bid to make his daughter see sense. He said last night, "Blake totally gets it. He said to me, 'We can't carry on living in London. We need to move out to the country.'" The latest plea comes after Amy spent yet another night on the tiles. Emerging from her Camden home in the early hours of the morning, an erratic-looking Amy stumbled towards a local club, swearing and shouting erratically. At one point she screamed at one of her own minders to "F**k off", before bursting into tears. Oh dear. For once – and we can't believe we're going to say this – we think you'd better listen to your husband, Amy.
Gordon Ramsay: "I thought I was a goner"
Sexy TV chef Gordon Ramsay thought his days were up when he fell off a cliff and landed in freezing water during filming for The F Word. The chef, who was in Iceland when the incident happened, fell as he attempted to clamber down a 280ft drop near the sea. Gordon fell into a creek, but his heavy boots and the rough water weighed him down and he was unable to get back to the surface. Talking about the accident last night, Gordon admitted, "I thought I was a goner. I remember thinking, 'Oh f**k'. My boots and my waterproofs were dragging me down." The chef then continued, "I'm an extremely good swimmer, but I couldn't get to the surface. I was panicking." Gordon eventually managed to get his boots off in the water and swim back to safety. The TV crew, who had feared the worse when the chef didn't resurface for almost a minute, helped him ashore with a rope. The 41-year-old was taken to hospital for a check-up, but aside from a gash on his leg, he was fine. "When I was underwater, all I could think of was Tana and the kids," Gordon admitted. Scary stuff.
Countdown bosses deny Carol was forced out
Carol Vorderman, number-lover extraordinaire, claimed at the weekend she was “forced” to quit her job on Countdown after 26 years service – but now show bosses say the allegations are “simply not true”. Vowel and consonant-selecting queen Carol told reporters she was asked to take a 90 per cent pay cut – a huge step down in earnings from her rumoured £900,000-a-year post. But sources at Granada – the makers of Countdown – tell a different story. A show insider says, “Everyone agreed she was going to leave and we’d all say nice things about each other. Next thing, she’s slagging us off. Channel 4 didn’t want to pay as much for the show anymore – it doesn’t get the ratings it used to. The bottom line is, Carol was fed up with travelling to film in Leeds from her house in Bristol. It just doesn’t add up, does it? Now if only we could find a maths expert to help us out…
Jonathan Ross signs up to Celebrity Apprentice
While heatworld still gets a little teary-eyed over The Apprentice being absent from our TV screens until next year (sob, blub etc), good news all around as the line up for the Celebrity Apprentice 2009 is slowly unveiled! Everyone’s favourite chat-show host Jonathan Ross is the latest celeb to sign up for a bit of Sralan’s boardroom fun. The bearded entrepreneur asked Jonathan to come on the show when he appeared on his chat show earlier this year, with Jonathan joining Alan Carr and Johnny Vegas on the one-off show for Comic Relief in March. A source says, “Obviously he has a bulging contacts book of star names he can call on for help. But whether or not he will be as good at sweet-talking Sir Alan as he is them remains to be seen.”
