What do YOU think of "shocking" Beyonce advert?

A new L'Oreal ad campaign featuring Beyonce has sparked controversy across the globe. The image, which shows the singer with noticeably paler skin and strawberry-blonde hair, as caused critics to accuse the beauty giant of "whitewashing" Beyonce. When she initially signed with L'Oreal, the star signed a contract saying she would not make any "radical changes" to her appearance – but it would appear that the company had different ideas. As you can see from the pictures above, Beyonce looks remarkably different – and very heavily airbrushed. An American newspaper has labeled the photo "shocking" and "weird", while other websites are slamming them as "severely Photoshopped". The hair colour change can be attributed to the hair dye she's advertising for the campaign, but it's the skin shade that is upsetting people the most. Beyonce herself has declined to comment on the controversy, but L'Oreal have released a statement saying, "It is categorically untrue that L'Oreal Paris altered Ms Knowles' features or skin tone in the campaign." What do you think to all this? Are you outraged, or do you think it's to be expected that a certain amount of airbrushing would be done?

It's another example of the myth that black (& dark skin in particular)isnt beautiful. This isn't something new,its been that way forever, its just been bought to the fore because its an A lister this time.

Her skin IS lighter. The question isn't whether it looks good or not, but why they felt it was necessary to lighten it at all? What also I don't get is the fact that her hair is a weave & not even hers so why promote hair products in the first place?

not bad at all. a bright face will pale anyones skin and even if they did SLIGHTLY lighten it i think its only in the interest of making the hair colour look more natural or better?

...cheekbones look like razor blades. It says a great deal when we go so far as to make someone as naturally beautiful as Beyonce into a barbie doll (and an apparently white one, at that).
