Simon Cowell is a busy man, isn’t he? When he’s not looking steely on The X Factor, he’s sorting out the next series of American Idol, which starts airing in January. Clearly inspired by the impact Chezza Cole’s had, Simon (and the other Simon, Mr Fuller) has recruited a fourth judge in the US. Songwriter Kara DioGuardi, who’s penned hits for Britney, Christina, Gwen and zillions of other huge stars, will be joining the show when the auditions start this week – but it sounds like she’ll get a luke-warm reception from Paula Abdul. “I am concerned about the audience and acceptance,” says notoriously volatile Paula. “Time will tell. We'll see. They always tried for a fourth judge because it followed the format of the original show, Pop Idol. We haven't had much luck with that working, but we're gonna give it another try." She also said that she thinks having four judges will ruin her fun to an extent. “That's gonna be weird if it's a split decision," she admits. "I'm sure Simon will get to make the final call. It takes the fun out of all the hard work I do to push those kids through.”. Ooh, it’s like Dannii and Cheryl all over again. Do you think it's right of Simon to mess with the format?
