We thought it was lovely – if not a little suspect – when Ricky Martin announced last week that he’d fathered twin boys, born to a surrogate mother. But now a Catholic Cardinal has said he thinks the whole thing is disgusting. "What Martin did diminishes the dignity of a human being, says Catholic leader Oscar Andres Rodriguez. “You can't just buy or rent life. It's even worse when someone famous and in the public eye is doing it.” Meanwhile, a talk-show host in Mexico has put forward a similar view. “I don't think it's right to deny children of maternal figures, just because you have a big ego,” says Estebean Arce. There’s also gossip emerging about how the news has been received by mags in the US, after it was thought they would pay up for exclusive pictures of Ricky’s boys. Apparently nobody’s interested, because they know Ricky won’t tell the full story about why he went with a surrogate – hmm, we think we know what they’re getting at…

what so its ok for ill affected slags and junkies to get knocked up because they are not 'buying or renting' life, but just doing what 'god' lets them do naturally, but for a man who can afford to give a child or children a good life its wrong?

my boyf's ex & her fam tried to block him out totally. he wasn't havin it. now he sleeps on his kid's floor when he's in denmark picking her up, cos he can't afford hotel and none of his mates live anywhere near airport/his ex's flat. its hard work!

catsmothermiaow, my boyf has a half-danish daughter who was conceived when her mum lived in london, he's lucky enough to have the cash to fly over and pick her up every 6 weeks, but in ur friends' case he needs to be firm, persistent, not give in!

Isn't Ricky Martin gay? Didn't he come out years ago or was that a rumour? Why do the church always get involved in everything?! Jesus, piss off it's not the middle ages you know!
