Awards season is back with a vengance – and last night it was the Mobos' turn to announce this years' nominees. It's looking like it's going to be all about the girls at the ceremony in October, with Estelle getting a whopping five nominations, including Best UK Female and Best Song. Leona Lewis wasn't far behind, however – she's got three nominations. Wiley and Dizzee Rascal are also both up in various categories, as is the lovely Adele, who's nominated for best female. The awards, which take place on the 15 October, will no doubt feature lots of bling, low-cut dresses and will also be hosted by Mel B, so lots of leopard print (probably).

The MOBO's have become a joke. It's supposed to stand for Music Of Black Origin, yet in previous years they've scrapped the best soul, jazz & gospel categories - three of the main pillars of black music.
