Fiona speaks out about “feud” with Kate Garraway

Oh, we do love a catfight – and anyone who says they don’t is lying. Fiona Phillips has spoken out about her war of words with fellow GMTV sofa-sitter Kate Garraway, who’s rumoured to be desperate for her job now that she’s leaving. “People pick on ladies and say they don't get on and it's just not true,” said Fiona on Al Murray’s chat show last night. “I know what you are referring to, but it is a pack of untruths. People should celebrate women with children still working and doing things. All they want to say is catfights in the corridors.” Hmm, we’re finding it a little tricky to work out what to believe with this one, as Fiona did say in a previous interview that Kate goes to “the opening of an envelope” and admitted, “She is probably quite pleased that I am going. I have the top job. It wouldn't be natural and she'd be lying if she said she didn't want it. It doesn't annoy me that I haven't heard from her. Nor am I basing any of my decisions on how she feels.” Kate’s agent has also played down the feud. “Kate is in the middle of her contract and she is working as she always does,” she said. “I don't see what else we can do. I don't know why people are so worked up about this when there are wars going on in the world. That's all I have to say on the matter.” Um, is it wrong that that really makes us laugh? If she’s that worried about “wars going on in the world”, why would she be a celebrity agent?!
