Fern Britton

Fern's contract HAS been renewed after all
Fern Britton has had her £200,000-a-year contract with Ryvita renewed – despite her gastric band controversy earlier in the year. The This Morning presenter was expected to be dropped as the face of the snack after the summer, but Fern will now star tomorrow in a new TV advert for their Limbo range of low-fat crisps. “We are delighted to continue our association with Fern,” says a spokesman at Ryvita. We have to say we felt sorry for Fern after the controversy surrounding her keeping quiet about having her gastric band fitted. But what do you think about Ryvita keeping Fern on – do you think she deserves to star in the new ad?

Becks signs kids' book deal
Blimey. David Beckham is launching a series of children’s books – but won’t be writing them (which we’re slightly relieved about as he’s hardly blessed with the biggest vocabulary. He makes up for it in other ways, though... ). The series of novels are to be set at David Beckham Football Academies in London and Los Angeles.  We hear the first book is going to be about a group of trainee youths and is due to be published in June 2009. “David is pleased the Academy has inspired a series of books that will bring children to reading through football," says David's spokesperson. Wonder if Posh will be reading them to Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz at bedtime?

Kelly talks about getting tested for STDs
Kelly Osbourne has revealed that she makes sure she is tested for sexually transmitted diseases four times a year. The 23-year-old, who hosts Radio 1’s Sunday Surgery, admitted that she had unprotected sex in the past, but is tested now for “peace of mind”. The youngest Osbourne, an ambassador for World Contraception Day, said that she first saw a condom aged seven, while on tour with dad Ozzy’s band, Black Sabbath. “Mum explained what they were. It was something my parents had never been shy about.”

Ant and Dec sued by American Ant
Our fave telly duo are being sued for £16million by an American comic called Ant to stop them using his name in the States. The comic, who hosts the US version of Celebrity Fit Club claims he is losing out on work after being confused with the Geordie pair. He also alleges that the competition scandal that rocked some of the pair’s TV shows will tarnish his reputation. A source said, “Under American rules no two performers can have the same name.
If Ant and Dec applied for a trade mark under the name Ant and said they were involved in comedy, they wouldn’t have been allowed to appear on TV.” The boys, who are in America to host quiz show Wanna Bet? have 20 days to reply to the court. Their spokesman said their US lawyers are investigating.
