Jennifer Lopez has always seemed like one of the most calm and composed stars around, but she’s just revealed that all of her hard work lead to a nervous breakdown when she was filming Enough in 2002. “I was doing music and movies and so many things,” she says. “I was suffering from a lack of sleep. And I did have a kind of nervous breakdown. I froze up on set. Well, not on a set, but in my trailer. I was like – I don't want to move, I don't want to talk, I don't want to do anything. I had a nervous breakdown.” She also says that the episode was particularly scary because it came completely out of the blue. “There were no signs leading up to it,” she reveals. “You really don't know what's happening at first. I was going, 'what's going on?' It was about five in the afternoon in my trailer and I just sat there. I remember telling my assistant at the time – Arlene – to go get the director Michael Apted and I asked if I could go home because I was feeling so, so sick and weird. I kept saying, 'I'm not weak, I'm not weak.' It's funny what tricks your mind play on you. I just didn't want people to think I was falling apart. But when I look back on it now, it's so odd to me that those are the words I chose to say: I Am Not Weak.” A sobbing J-Lo was then carried to her car by her bodyguard – but when she was taken to her doctor, she refused medication. “I just kept asking what was wrong with me,” she says. “The doctor said ‘I'll tell you what's wrong. You're sleep deprived. You're overworked. Go home and go to bed.' He told me to go back to work on Monday after a weekend of sleeping because if I waited longer I would only get more panicked about working. So that's what I did. I've still never been to a shrink. I'm not a shrinky person.” Gosh, we’re amazed that she’s been so very candid – aren’t you?

Of COURSE she's not been to a shrink - she's a diva!! i.e. the opposite of neurotic. I don't think she worries about being not being good enough, do you?! She is the sort of person who would make those around her seek therapy tho!!

a nervous breakdown. it doesnt really make any difference to me what it was, she was obviously concerned enough to go and see a dr. and fyi, sleep deprivation and work related stress/anxiety can be a MAJOR cause/catalyst in psychological disorders

i think people who are suffering from mental health issues have a bit more on their plate than to worry about what J.Lo has to say, dont you?? i really cannot comprehend how so many people can feel indignant at this woman saying she thinks she had

When my dad died my mum had to bring up five of us on her own and go out and get three jobs. I never remember her complaining or moaning. She didn't have time to have a 'breakdown'. Jo Lo is a spoilt witch who has no idea of the real world.
