Zac Efron “attacked by deranged fan” leaving theatre

It seems all this High School Musical fever is a little overwhelming for some people – last night, Zac Efron and his on and off-screen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens went to a West End theatre (to see Josh Hartnett in Rain Man) when a man randomly attacked Zac. The middle-aged chap, who was clutching a laptop and has been described as “a deranged fan”, began shouting and pointing at the star before lunging at him and grabbing his head. “Some guy was just stood near the door where Zac and Vanessa emerged,” says an onlooker. “He just reached over and grabbed the side of Zac's head. There was no provocation. It all turned into a bit of a mess. He was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him.” How dare he try to hurt our boyfriend? Luckily, Zac wasn’t hurt during the incident and later had dinner with his HSM co-stars at Floridita in Soho. We hope it doesn’t put him off from coming back to London again soon...
