Wonderbra: "We did NOT tell model to lose weight"

When we brought you the story yesterday about model Katie Green, who was told to lose two stone after she won a competition to be the face of Wonderbra, most of you were understandably aghast. Katie, who's 5ft 10in and weighs a healthy 10st 5lb, says she suffered from depression after being told to lose weight. Most of you agreed that the request was ridiculous. CoffeeCupLipstick said, "She is a REAL woman. She's pretty and has a great figure," while LittleV agreed, saying, "She looks stunning, great body!" Well, now Wonderbra have contacted heatworld to explain the situation, and say that they did NOT tell Katie to lose any weight. "Wonderbra celebrates every girl’s natural shape and encourages them to be proud of their curves," they told us. "Headlines that suggest that Wonderbra pressured Katie Green to lose weight are inaccurate and misleading. This is an issue between Katie’s model agency, Premier Model Management and Katie herself, who has stressed this – stating on BBC Radio 5 Live 'Wonderbra are completely not to blame, not at one point have they suggested I lose any weight'." So, there you go, Wonderbra aren't the ones to blame. They go on to state, "Wonderbra UK did not ask Katie to lose weight – in fact we chose her because of her fabulous curves. The model agency that Katie then chose to sign with advised her to lose weight – advice that Wonderbra would never give to girls. We are always looking for curvy, fun and confident models and support Katie in her quest to challenge the size zero debate." Phew! We must say we're relieved that Wonderbra feel this way and are being so supportive. Supportive, geddit? Oh never mind... This issue has clearly highlighted yet again the apparent pig-headedness of the modelling industry, who still seem to maintain that super-skinny is the norm. We for one would rather see healthy-looking girls like Katie on the catwalk. But do you agree? At least Katie's now happy working with Ultimo – and doesn't she look great? If you want any Ultimo goodies, then you'll find them at Debenhams stores nationwide or at www.ultimo.co.uk

OMG compare the body of the model above to the likes of stick thin Vicky Beckham and Paris Hilton. I know which one I would prefer.

Heat_Fanatic :O She is stunning and we need REAL women to promote things instead of these anorexic bony models looking AWFUL on posters advertising underwear. Most models are so skinny you can play the guitar on their ribcage! She is curvy and fab!
