Simon's mum spills the beans on Terri split

Simon's mum spills the beans on Terri split:
Blimey! You go away for a few days and it all happens, eh? We were shocked this weekend to discover that Simon Cowell had split from his girlfriend of six years Terri Seymour – and now his mum has had her say on the couple's break-up. "Simon has a right to his own life, we all do," said 82-year-old Julie Cowell, "But Terri wanted a baby and things didn’t work out." It had been rumoured for months that the relationship was in trouble, but Simon had always denied there was a problem. His mum went on to say, "I’m very fond of Terri, I adore her. The split was really based on the fact that she wanted a baby and to get married." Sinitta, who dated Simon 18 years ago, has also admitted in the past that she split from the music mogul because he did not want children, but the pair have remained very good friends. Terri herself confirmed the split this weekend, saying, "It was a mutual decision for us to split. But we still speak and are friends." Terri, who actually separated from Simon back in September, is now rumoured to be dating hot Hollywood actor Stephen Dorff. Somehow we don't imagine Mr Cowell will find himself short of offers, either...

Holly confirms pregnancy

In case, like heatworld, you were out drinking an inadvisable amount of wine this weekend and missed The Xtra Factor, you won't have heard the news that Holly Willoughby is expecting her first baby. The news came after Simon and Louis both congratulated her live on air, even though we don't think they were supposed to. A shy-looking Holly then replied, "Yes, I am pregnant – I don't know if people know that yet." After admitting the news, Holly became all emotional and told the judges she thought she might start crying. It will be the first baby for Holly and her husband of a year Dan Baldwin, but we shouldn't be too surprised, as Holly always said she wanted to be a young mum. "I can't wait to have children," she admitted shortly after her wedding, "I want to be a young mum. When it will happen, I'm not sure, but we look forward to it more than anything else." Look like she got her wish, and how CUTE is the baby going to be?! Congratulations Holly and Dan!

And Leona's feeling broody

Holly's not the only one with babies on her mind – Leona Lewis has revealed that she can't wait to have kids – and lots of them! And the X Factor winner even says she wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow celebrities such as Angelina Jolie by adopting, too. Leona says, "I definitely want to adopt. My mum was a social worker and my dad was a a youth offender officer, so I know that there are a lot of kids out there that need to be fostered and adopted... When I was in Africa, I wanted to take home all the kids. They were so cute. All of them had been orphaned because of HIV and it was heart-rending. There are so many who need help – both here and abroad – you just don't know where to start." Leona is now preparing for her world tour and dreading the prospect of being away from her childhood sweetheart Lou Al-Chama. Leona added, "We get on like a house on fire. I miss him so much every time we're apart because he is also my very best friend. I write letters to him and he makes me a CD of different songs I can listen to. He's lovely." We're not sure whether to vomit or swoon...

Hero is number one

X Factor contestants were celebrating last night after their Help For Heroes charity hit single topped the charts. The cover version of Mariah Carey's song Hero sold a massive 313,244 copies in the first six days, making it the fastest-selling single of the year, beating the combined sales of the Top Ten. The single has made thousands for the Help For Heroes charity and Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal for wounded troops. The X Factor finalists gathered round their radio last night in the house they currently share in north London to hear the news that their single had gone straight in at Number One. Simon Cowell said, "It's a really important cause. We are all honoured to be part of it." And Prime Minister Gordon Brown has even pledged to hand back the VAT on each single sale to the charities and major retailers like HMV, Woolworths and Tesco are waiving any profit.

Yes, we know the news is all very X Factor themed today, but really, what else is there in the world to care about? It's not like there's a massive election this week or anything...
