It’s hard for us all in the UK to understand just how big a deal new movie Twilight is in America right now. The film, based on the first of Stephenie Meyer’s mega-selling novel quartet, opens in the US on Friday, and is already selling out screenings all over the country. Twilight tells the story of the tortured romance between vampire Edward Cullen (Brit cutie Robert Pattinson) and schoolgirl Bella (Kristen Stewart) and is that rare beast: a geeky “genre” film with a massive female fanbase. That fanbase has been exercising its lungs recently at personal appearances by 22-year-old Pattinson across North America. The movie opens in the UK on 19 December, when we can discover what all the fuss is about. Will you be watching it?
