Woah! Now Leona’s thrashing Take That!

Yesterday, we brought you the news that Take That were thrashing Britney in the midweek album charts and indeed, that’s still the case (incidentally, The Killers are ahead of her too, although Britney’s people tell us it is her biggest first week in the UK ever – she’s actually never had a Number One album here!). But it’s a different story in the singles chart – Take That look certain to be knocked off Number One this week by a certain Ms Leona Lewis. Her cover of Snow Patrol’s Run – which was originally never even going to be properly released – is selling by the shedload! In just a couple of days, Run has sold well over three times more units than Greatest Day. Wowzers. Do you like her version of the song, or do you think it’s first-degree murder? Do tell. There’s some other interesting chart news too – although it’s fair to say Britney’s X Factor appearance was luke-warm, it’s obviously had the desired effect. Womanizer is steadily climbing and is at number three in the midweeks (it was only number seven in last week’s chart) and is actually only a couple of thousand copies behind Take That. So, girl power all round then – it’s like 1996 all over again!

I love this version & Snow Patrol's version. This version is easier for me to sing (Having a higher pitched voice) so it's more played on my iTunes. My boyfriend calls Leona a bitch - he prefers to sing the SP version lol

This is such a wicked song from Snow Patrol and I've always loved it. Although Leona sings it well to begin with she murders it a bit at the end.

Now THAT is what the expression "haunting melody" was invented for. Songs like that don't come along very often and they don't usually get covered very well but she totally aces it. I love Snow Patrol but this is just SUCH a better version.

the thing is it wasnt gunna be released as a single but on airplay alone, it got to no. 35 in the charts this is before the new album with it on or the single had came out, i love both versions, but i love Leona just that tiny bit more :D
