There’s no doubting that all that emotion from E-I-E-I-Eoghan on Saturday was genuine – if he can fake tears like that he deserves an Oscar, not a record deal – but it could have had a positive effect on his career: his odds to win the show are rocketing! He’s now just behind Alexandra as favourite to win, with JLS looking like serious outsiders. “Eoghan is really tugging at the public’s heartstrings,” says a Paddy Power spokesperson. “You could say he gave the performance of his life last Saturday, and we’re not talking about his singing! His reaction to Diana leaving has only won him more fans and Eoghan is still very much in the race to be crowned this year’s X Factor winner.” The bookies are also giving odds of 3/1 that Diana and Eoghan will announce they’re dating at some point in 2008 or 2009 – and odds of 10/1 that he’ll announce he’s in love with her live on TV at the final!
