Oh dear, it’s officially break-up season…

heatworld noticed that many of our Facebook friends went from “in a relationship” to “engaged” over Christmas and New Year – but things in the celebrity world aren’t quite so sickening blissful. Yesterday, we brought you the news that Katy Perry had gone through a bitter split with her long-term boyfriend Travis McCoy, but it seems they’re not the only ones who fell out over the festive season. Jennifer Love Hewitt is said to be heartbroken after breaking up with her fiancé of two years, Scottish actor Ross McCall, while fellow actress Patricia Arquette has filed for divorce from her husband Thomas Jane, citing “irreconcilable differences”. Meanwhile, the newly rekindled romance between Mandy Moore and Adam Goldstein (otherwise known as Nicole Richie’s ex DJ-AM) is now over, just months after they got back together following his horrific plane crash. And Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford, who plays one of the grown-ups in the show (Serena’s mum Lily Van Der Woodsen) has also filed for divorce, even though she’s three months pregnant! Gosh, it’s all a bit depressing, isn’t it? We do hope your own start to 2009 has involved less of the dumping and more of the humping…
