Lily reveals she spent time in “nuthouse”

Sometimes it feels like Lily Allen lives her whole life in the public eye – but the singer has revealed that she secretly spent three weeks in a psychiatric clinic last year. Lily says she spent time in what she calls a “nuthouse” after suffering a miscarriage at the end of her relationship with Ed Simons from Chemical Brothers. “I stayed there for three weeks,” she reveals. “I was really depressed because of the miscarriage and I'd kind of lost the plot a bit. It was quite a nasty time. It was quite nice being in there. No one could get to me; no one knew I was there.” Lily also says she often wonders if things would have been different in her relationship if she hadn’t lost the baby. “Maybe if I had stayed pregnant and had the baby then things would have worked out between me and Ed,” she says. “I don't know. You could drive yourself insane thinking about it.” We’re quite surprised that Lily’s now been so candid about what was clearly a very difficult time in her life, but we're glad that things now seem to be looking up for her.
