Anna Friel has her say on the weight debate – and it's quite shocking

Ever since the whole weight debate kicked off back in 1872 (probably), we've always been under the impression that being super-skinny is most widely associated with LA and Hollywood, where most of the celebs like to hang out. However, according to British actress Anna Friel, who is currently enjoying much success over in the States, the pressure to stay thin is actually worse over here in the UK. Talking at the Elle Style Awards on Monday night, Anna said, "I actually find the pressure when I am back home here far greater than in LA. There are so many thin women here, much thinner than in America." A surprising statement perhaps, but when you think about how many increasingly thin British actresses there are doing the rounds, then we can start to see her point. Keira Knightley, who has clearly always been on the slim side, and Sienna Miller, who was rumoured to have been dropped from the new Robin Hood film for being "too thin", are just two examples of British stars who are on the skinny side. But are other stars also feeling the pressure? Have you ever felt under pressure to lose weight, and do you agree with Anna that British celebs are becoming increasingly slim?

if you are bored reading about the fat/skinny debate then stop celeb-type magazines. Don't just slag off Heat! I am sure they would stop printing stories about it if their readership suddenly dropped.... until then they will keep printing what sells.

No, Heat, I've never felt pressure to lose weight, being thin. I have been pressured to gain weight because magazines like you bang on about how unhealthy thin women are and how we must all be anorexic, because no one is naturally thin, are they?

they'd probably just ban everyone who signed it.....seems they're fond of doing that to their critics...
