Emotional Jade tells wedding guests: "I'm praying for a miracle"
Jade Goody will be waking up this morning as Mrs Jade Tweed, after marrying in a secret ceremony yesterday in Hatfield, Essex. Jade, who is suffering from terminal cancer, managed to walk down the aisle and stand for all but five minutes of the ceremony and doves were released as the marriage was confirmed. But just hours before, Jade selflessly told Jack: "Find another when I'm gone," with a family friend revealing, "She's told Jack she wants him to be happy." After the duo got hitched Jade moved wedding guests to tears as she gave a 30-minute speech, admitting, "I'm praying for a miracle. I hope we can come back here in a few years' time. I never want to leave any of you." Jack and Jade spent last night together for what could be the first and last time. Jack was released from prison early but wears a tag and has to stay at his mothers each night – he was granted one night reprieve for their wedding – and because Jade is too ill to go on a honeymoon. Congratulations on the wedding, Mr and Mrs Tweed.
British talent cleans up at the Oscars
Homegrown talent did us all proud at the Oscars last night, as Brit film Slumdog Millionaire scooped a whopping eight gold statues, including the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director for Danny Boyle. Kate Winslet was also overjoyed to be presented with the Best Actress Oscar, although this time she did manage to hold it together a little better than at the Golden Globes. It was the sixth time she had been nominated, so we reckon she's allowed to have a few tears of relief. Other big winners on the night included Sean Penn for Best Actor in Milk, Penelope Cruz for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor in The Dark Knight. We'll bring you all the gossip from last night's glittering awards do throughout the day. For the full list of the main winners see below:
Nicole Richie is pregnant… again
It only seems like a few months ago Nicole Richie and Joel Madden became first-time parents to cute little Harlow (in actual fact, it was last January… oh how time flies etc) – and now they’re expecting their second child. Hurrah! Joel has described the news as “better than winning an Oscar”. Aww. Joel told the world via his website, “I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister! God has truly blessed my family. Hope [you're] all feeling as good as I am right now." Congratulations guys!
Melinda’s out of Dancing On Ice
Another week, another celeb axed from Dancing On Ice, and this time it was Melinda Messenger’s turn to face the boot. She faced the bottom two with Jessica Taylor – who all five judges opted to save. On exiting the show, Melinda said, “I kind of expected it, but it’s been such fun to do. Genuinely I have loved every second. I wouldn’t change it for the world.” Coleen Nolan, meanwhile, was saved by the public vote. And while we’re on the subject of Dancing On Ice, there’s a bit of a hoo-ha with the ever-scathing Jason Gardiner… so much so that he’s now the subject of an Ofcom investigation over his comments about Roxanne Pallet and Ellery Hanley. Last week he described Roxanne as a “Cabbage Patch doll”, and Ellery as “Mr Potato Head”. What do you think? Do you reckon his words were offensive, or is it just a fuss over nothing?
