John Mayer slags off Britney – does he EVER shut up?!

Despite John Mayer’s claims that as soon as his display of Aniston-love at the Oscars was over he’d be dunking out of the limelight to concentrate on his music, he’s now taken to slagging off Britney. The man just can’t keep his mouth shut, can he? We have to admit, we rather like him though – he’s awfully entertaining, even if he doesn’t always make a lot of sense. “I was just talking the other day about how strange the Britney Spears songwriting approach is,” he says. “Because it's all about, 'I'm going out tonight, but nobody look at me.' I've never met her and I'm not coming down on her, but all of the songs are sort of like, 'I'm getting all my girls together, we're gonna go out' and 'I've got holes cut out for bleep, I got flashlights on me.' And then it's like, 'Why's everybody looking at me? 'Everybody's looking at me' because oh, did you hear verse two, Britney?” Um, do you follow John’s thoughts there? Or not so much? John has also talked about his decision to go majorly public with Jen at the Oscars. “At some point, you feel comfortable and say, 'This is the choice I want to make',” he says. “I think a year is a pretty good period of time with which to say, 'Let's go have a really good time at the Oscars!' I basically stepped into the picture frame of Hollywood. For one night, I put on the most amazing suit and entered into the picture frame. You have to really be with someone that you know has your back in that situation. And she did, and it was really great.” Aww, we do like John and Jen together – and it’s interesting that he seems to be saying they’ve been dating as long as a year, but has conveniently forgotten that big blip in the middle…
