Big Brother will have to air apology before opening night show

Big Brother

Looks like next week's live Big Brother launch show will be quite unlike anything we've seen before. Channel 4 is being forced by industry regulator Ofcom to air the first of three apologies about this year's Celeb BB just before the start of Wednesday's BB8.

Ofcom has announced that Channel 4 breached its broadcasting code for making "serious editorial misjudgements" and, to paraphrase a lengthy jargon-filled ruling, failing to intervene early enough to stop the housemates behaving in an offensive manner to Shilpa Shetty.

So as part of Channel 4's punishment (they haven't been fined), they'll have to tell viewers on air about Ofcom's findings on three occasions: at the start of BB8, before the following morning's repeat and finally before the first eviction show – whenever that will be!
