Shia LaBeouf: "I'm lucky to be alive"

Ever since he "crushed" his fingers during a car smash back in July, we haven't been able to think about Shia LaBeouf without wincing – which is a shame, because we used to very much enjoy thinking about him... Anyway, this is why we're relieved to hear that he's finally on the mend. Speaking about the accident in a new interview, Shia said, "The car hit me at 70mph. It was eye-opening and terrifying." We don't know about you, but we'd have probably had our eyes tight shut if a car was powering towards us... The actor then went on to admit, "It was one of the biggest things that’s happened to me, for sure, in my life. I’m grateful to be here." Talking about his mangled hand, the star explained, "We propped [my hand] together so I could get through Transformers 2, and then I’ll go have another surgery and be back to 100 per cent." Propped it together? What? With matchsticks and sticky-back plastic? Shia also admitted that his injuries were worse than anything confirmed at the time of the crash, but assures us that his fingers are "good" now. The accident was found to be caused by another driver, but it was reported that Shia was over the limit at the time. He's had a very lucky escape...
