Last night, it was the American Idol final in, er, America, but our British eyes and eyes won’t get to appreciate it until it’s screened on ITV2 tomorrow night. However, if you can’t be arsed with waiting, we can now reveal that the winner is… drumroll please… David Cook. He and the other David, 17-year-old David Archuleta, went head to head in a dramatic final, but barman-turned-rocker Cook (well, rocker by talent show standards anyway) was ultimately voted winner. “This is amazing, thank you,” he gushed when he found out he’d gone and done it. And even Simon Cowell had something nice to say. “He’s done more to deserve it over the eleven weeks,” he said. “He’s taken more risks, he’s done things with certain songs that have been more interesting.” He even – whoa! – apologised for being “disrespectful” towards Cook earlier in the show. Blimey, is he drunk?
