OMG! Hallelujah is even huger than we thought!

Yesterday we revealed that Alexandra Burke’s first single Hallelujah had become the fastest-selling download in the history of the universe, and now the midweek charts have come through, confirming just how many units she’s sold. Since winning The X Factor on Saturday night, she’s sold just under 150,000 copies (149, 546 to be precise – are you one of them?) and rocketed to Number One in the midweek charts. Can you imagine how much this number will go up when it’s available on CD from tomorrow? We think it’ll be stuffed into a hell of a lot of stockings. To put things into perspective, Leona Lewis’ Run is at number two, with 28,607 copies so far this week. Which is also a lot – but 120,000 less than Alexandra. And you won’t believe what’s at number three… following a campaign from fans of the late musician Jeff Buckley, his amazing version of Hallelujah (originally featured on his critically acclaimed '94 album Grace) is at number three in the midweeks. The charts are bloody weird these days, aren’t they?
