Our very own BB blogger and self-confessed fan of the show Brian Belo gives us his views on Saffia's shock exit, and who he hopes will come in to replace her...

As eviction fever reaches boiling point tonight, one housemate won’t be joining the group when Davina delivers the fateful news. That housemate is Saffia – the feisty mum of two has decided to quit BB. Reasons behind her exit are clouded in mystery, but I personally think her rivalry with Sophia – a pointless rivalry might I add – has got too much for her to take. What we’ve got to remember is when stuck together 24/7 – not getting on with other housemates in that house can really take its toll.

The first week is properly one of the hardest in Big Brother, because before you go in there you could never contemplate how long the days are and how little there is to do. Mix that with being stuck with a person that either doesn’t like you or you don’t like them and that is a lethal combination. Once you get past the first week and into a house routine – you start to gain more of an understanding of the household and how you will survive daily in the house of mirrors.

Another house killer is lack of sleep; Halfwit is already going through the motions as he tells the other housemates to be quiet in the bedroom. This is a common thing between BB contestants that seem to think its ok to have a party in a bedroom at silly o’clock in the morning, whilst other people are sleeping. I personally felt for Halfwit – the lad has just been nominated, feels a bit low and wants to have an early night. Yet the people who nominated him want to kick him while he's down by being loud in the bedroom when there is a perfectly good living room! If someone has been nominated, especially in the first week, give them a rest – don’t be putting their bed into the toilet, that’s just cruel – yes that’s you Cairon & Marcus.

Angel is growing more on me every day, I really respected her sticking up for Halfwit – it was a kind and noble thing to do. Unlike my previous favourite Charlie, who told Halfwit to complain about them in the diary room as he left the room. One thing Big Brother shows us is that most humans have multi-faceted personalities; some people are funny, some are nice and reasonable human beings, some are charismatic – to find a Big Brother contestant with all three of them characteristics would make the perfect housemate, but I suppose that would be all too easy!
