We’re equally and amused and annoyed by the news that former Big Brother star Carole Ann Vincent was yesterday cleared of, er, stealing a policeman’s truncheon. The 55 year-old was accused of nicking the stick at an anti-war demonstration that was held in London last year. The BB8 contestant denied the charge and was backed in her bid to be let off by Labour politician Tony Benn, who said yesterday: “It would have been a gross injustice if she had been sentenced.” While we’re very pleased that Carole was let off the ridiculous charge, surely the courts have far better things to do than spend fortunes taking cases like this to trial?
