There is barely a man left on the planet who doesn't have an opinion about Katie Price. Some love her, some loathe her and there are some who are just plain scared of her. That's where our dear friend Brian Belo comes in. The Big Brother champ met Pricey for the first time at the Celebrity Big Brother final on Friday night - and he admits he was a tad intimidated. "To be fair, I was a little bit scared," he admits. "Which is odd, considering I'm a grown man who is 6ft 4ins - but there is such a bubble around them that you feel a little bit intimidated entering it." Katie was quick to put Brian at ease, though, and now the boy is well and truly won over. The End Of An Era
When Alex Reid went into the Celebrity Big Brother house a month ago, he claimed he would turn the boos to cheers. I don't think anyone really expected the man to be able to do that, but with great effort he certainly did.
I was at the studios the night of the final and I've got to admit the atmosphere was electric. I didn't expect Stephanie Beacham to win, but I didn't expect her to come out first either. Her exit was very well suited for her with the Dallas theme music. It was a first for any Big Brother, Celebrity or otherwise, to have an all-male final four. This series was full of testosterone and the alpha males ruled right down to the very end.
Next out was Jonas; he did extremely well and I think his hand in the comical spray-tan scene with Alex helped him to escape the mid-week eviction. His interview with Davina stated that there was no love lost between him and Katia.
The most amusing incident of the night had to be Vinnie Jones coming third. His face was a picture! In true Vinnie style, when it was announced he had to wait thirty minutes before leaving he pulled up a right stink. What I loved about this series was that the action was still going on right up until the very end.
So that left only two, Dane and Alex. Dane was my pick a week beforehand and was the bookies favourite right up until the final day. I think his conversation with Vinnie about not wanting to be evicted before Alex scuppered his chances. My mate went on holiday last week and came back on the final night gobsmacked Alex had won. What a difference a week makes in the BB world. One small slip can cost a housemate that golden crown.
I think Alex ended up winning because he was just a nice guy. I got to meet him at the afterparty and he was very gracious and a pleasure to meet. His now fiancee was holding his arm and when I asked for a picture with him, Katie said, "Why do you look scared, do you think we're scary?" To be fair, I was a little bit scared - which is odd considering I'm a grown man who is 6ft 4ins - but there is such a bubble around them that you feel a little bit intimidated entering it. I said to Kate that she must be proud that he's won and she said, "Of course, my man's amazing."
I think Alex winning summed up what BB has been about all along. The person who was the least famous but was a decent person won Since it' conception, the show has challenged people's perception of status and reputation. Mr Reid's victory was very similar to Chantelle Houghton's win in 2006. Bye Celebrity BB, you'll be sorely missed.
