Meet this year's Big Brother housemates - a porn star, a transexual and a former gang member

Big Brother is back and Channel 5 is doing its best to make the 13th series - yes 13th - the most memorable one yet.

It all kicked off last night with Brian Dowling introducing us to the 16 housemates who range from a transexual, a former Playboy bunny, a porn star and Andy Scott Lee's fiance. (Remember him? No we don't either...)

Former gang member Adam was born in the UK but brought up on the streets of LA, where he became part of the infamous LA Crips gang and ended up in jail. He says his biggest achievement in life is getting clean and sober.

Arron's a fan of Mixed Martial Arts and works as a model. He's worked for the likes of Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister, and admits he always ends up taking his shirt off to reveal his toned abs when he's had a little too much pop.

Self-confessed potty mouth Ashleigh is an Essex girl through and through. She says she wants to win Big Brother for the fame and she doesn't care if the public love her or hate her. She's single and happy to stay that way, but admits she does love a good flirt.

Teacher turned porn star Benedict, who works under the name Johnny Anglais, lost his teaching job when people found out he was spending his free time stripping.

Caroline describes herself as 'weird, embarrassing and a bit of a loser.' She also claims to be terrible with boys and has never had a relationship that lasted longer than a week.

Doorman and bailiff Chris says he's willing to do whatever it takes to win this series of Big Brother, saying: "'I’ll be the biggest two faced person in there."

Connor is a personal trainer and massage therapist from Northern Ireland. He says the most important person in his life is, erm, him. "I love myself," he says.

Deana says she gets on better with boys than girls because girls are jealous of her looks - well she is Miss India UK, after all. She can't cook and hasn't got a clue how to iron.

Kylie lookalike Lauren has a black belt in karate and holds three world championships. She's newly single and grew up on a farm in Jersey - she can drive a tractor and everything.

Luke is a chef from Wales. He was also born a girl, and hopes to prove to 'trans guys' that you can lead a normal life no matter what. Newly married Luke is confident he can win this series of Big Brother.

This Stoke On Trent boy uses his flirting skills on a day-to-day basis in his job as a club promoter. He dropped out of uni to work in bars and clubs and admits he's a bad loser.

Professional dancer Lydia met her fiance Andy Scott Lee when she was working as a backing dancer for his sister, Steps singer Lisa Scott Lee. Lydia won't be touching a drop of booze while she's in the house because she's allergic to alcohol.

Scottish student Sara won Miss Edinburgh in 2010 and came second in Miss Scotland 2011. She's a big fan of Margaret Thatcher, and has been single for a year. Maybe that's why...

Posh boy Scott wants to become a celebrity historian after he leaves the Big Brother house. He's a member of his university shooting and countryside societies, and his family don't know he's gay. They will soon though...

During her time working as a Playboy Bunny, Shievonne met Hugh Heffner twice. She can smoke a cigarette with her boobs and down 10 tequila shots in 30 seconds. Kids - don't try this at home.

Former glamour model Victoria has appeared in a number of magazines and spent a whole lot of money on cosmetic surgery. If she wins Big Brother she wants to use the money to start a vegan shoe and handbag company.
