If we were to name David Walliams’ closest colleague, we’d probably say Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas, or maybe his wife Lara Stone, who gave him all those towels during his big Thames swim. But last night at a Britain’s Got Talent audition, the comedian formed something of a double act with his mum. He asked Kathleen, 68, to give him some pearls of wisdom after a contestant split opinion on the 4-strong judges’ panel.
According to the Evening Standard, he said: “This sounds like the kind of thing I’d buy my mother for Mother’s Day. My mum’s in the audience – Mum, would you be happy with that?” She nodded, and though we’d like to think that saved the contestant, we have to wait until later on this year to discover the actual outcome.
Here are some options to get you thinking: a) David listened to his dear mum, b) David didn’t listen to his mum, c) David’s mum fell asleep for a bit d) David didn’t listen to his mum and the contestant cried and cried and cried and some sad music played and eventually they let him/her win the whole thing but it’s still a secret.
New panel
The BGT panel sees Simon Cowell back for the first rounds, after ratings dwindled last year following his absence from the earlier stages. David is a newcomer, as is Alesha Dixon, who Simon pilfered from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Carmen’s been standing (well, sitting) in for Amanda Holden, who’s taken some time off to recover from complications to do with the recent birth of her daughter, Hollie Rose.
Three nights into filming at London’s Apollo theatre, the former Baywatch star isn’t getting so many boos from the audience, and she might even have a special admirer. One source said that Simon and Electra “looked very flirty with each other during filming”. We’re not too shocked about that one, TBH!
