Lovesick singer Ryan O’Shaughnessy made a welcome return to Britain’s Got Talent after being axed for being locked into another talent show contract. Ryan revealed that he was signed up for The Voice Of Ireland.

But he managed to get out of his contract with Universal – the maker of the show – so he could come back and perform in the semi-finals of BGT.

After his performance of a song he’d written himself, it was obvious that the judges were glad to have him back.

“Their loss is our gain... I really, really, really like you. You're believable... maybe you could be the dark horse in this competition. I believe in you,” Simon Cowell told Ryan.

And it wasn’t just the ‘big guy’ who was impressed.

“You are a major talent. You come on to the stage, you've done another original song, which was absolutely fantastic. This girl who won't go out with you, I don't know who she is but she's doing you a favour as you're writing the most beautiful songs about her,” David Walliams said.

Ryan’s first audition

In Ryan’s first audition, he sang a song he’d written about a female friend he’d secretly been in love with for a while.

Unfortunately, Ryan’s secret crush hasn't given him the fairytale ending he was hoping for and he revealed to the judges that she didn’t have romantic feelings towards him.

“It’s her loss I'm afraid,” Alesha Dixon reassured him.

And Simon added: “I wouldn't worry about her because you're going to get so much action after this.”

Ryan and synchronised swimming group, Aquabatique were both voted through to the final on Saturday.
