Claim to fame: TV presenter and fashionista extraordinaire
- Alexa was scouted by a model spotter when she was 14
- Her dad is half-Chinese
- In 2009, Mulberry created a handbag inspired by her, named the Alexa
- As a model, she’s appeared in music videos for Westlife, Holly Valance, The Streets and Delta Goodrem
Modern muse Alexa started out as a teen model after being scouted on a beach on holiday in Majorca at age 14. After four years at Storm Model Management, appearing in music vids and gracing the pages of Elle Girl and CosmoGIRL!, she became disillusioned with the weird world of fashion modelling and quit.
Her big telly break came in April 2006, when Alexa was offered the job of co-host on Channel 4’s Popworld. She soon became the trendy new face of the channel’s youff programming, including T4, the music show Freshly Squeezed, Big Brother’s Big Mouth and the channel’s music festival coverage.
Music and fashion were her bag and she took over from Zane Lowe on MTV’s Gonzo in 2010, appearing as a roving reporter on Channel 4's Gok's Fashion Fix too. Returning to modelling in 2008, she became the face of New Look, DKNY and Lacoste, strutting her stuff on the runway for Vivienne Westwood in 2009.
Now a fashion columnist for Company, The Independent and a contributing editor to British Vogue, Anna Wintour has described her as “a phenomenon”. Woah. She’s currently trying to crack America, presenting NBC’s 2011 Golden Globes red carpet coverage and Thrift America for PBS.
When it comes to men, Alexa likes them musically gifted, having dated Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, Horrors frontman Faris Badwan, Klaxons keyboardist James Righton and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner from April 2007 until July 2011.
