Biography:
Amanda Holden is the multi-talented actress, musical theatre star and judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
Famously, one of Amanda’s first TV appearances was on Blind Date with Cilla Black in 1991. Sadly, a gutted Amanda wasn’t even picked! But never mind, as Amanda then went on to land acting roles on various TV shows throughout the 1990s, becoming one of Britain’s best loved actresses. Amanda had parts in TV shows such as Cutting It, Hearts and Bones and Kiss me Kate with Caroline Quentin. She later starred in Wild at Heart which lasted for two series. She also acted in Big Top, but the less said about that the better.
During this time, Amanda put acting on hold to prove herself as more than just an actress. Turning her hand to musical theatre, she proved herself as a talented singer and dancer with her role in Thoroughly Modern Milly. She was even nominated for a Lawrence Olivier award, pretty much an Oscar in the land of musical theatre, and received flawless reviews. Amanda was back on the West End in 2011, playing Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical.
In 2007, Amanda was announced as a judge on Simon Cowell’s new TV show, Britiain’s Got Talent, alongside Simon and Piers Morgan. Her TV talents were obviously duly noted and in 2009, Amanda impressed TV producers over in the US, and was signed up as a regular correspondent on NBC.
Amanda was married to Les Dennis (yes, of Family Fortunes fame) until 2003. They divorced after it emerged that Amanda had been having an affair with Bob the Builder (aka Neil Morrisey) in 2000. She has since remarried record producer Chris Hughes and the couple have a little girl, Lexi, who was born in 2006. Amanda fell pregnant with their second baby last year, however tragically lost the baby in the late stages.
