Biography

Simian frat-boy Ben Affleck is one of those actors that’s managed to make it to the top in Hollywood, despite being, well, not very good. You know the type.

His breakout role came in classic cult 90’s teen flick Dazed and Confused playing a detestable jock. Not much of a stretch then. His profile grew as he teamed up with slacker specialist, director Kevin Smith, in the first of many films together, Mallrats in 1995. Ben would go on to star in all of his films except Clerks.

His first major role was in 1997’s Good Will Hunting, where he teamed him up with lifelong BFF Matt Damon to write and star in the movie, taking home the Best Screenplay Oscar in the process. This led to Hollywood blockbuster after Hollywood blockbuster, usually of the Ben Affleck-saves-the-world type, including Armageddon, Pearl Harbour, and the massive box office success and comic spin-off Daredevil.

He then managed to cancel out this success with some pretty notable stinkers, including the utterly horrendous Gigli. At the time he was dating his co-star J-Lo, fresh from his split from Gwyneth Paltrow, and the Bennifer press attention turned him and his career into a bit of a joke. They split in 2004 after he partied with some lapdancers.

He’s since directed a couple of films, most notably his debut Gone Baby Gone in 2007, which garnered acclaim. Ben married Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner (yup, another Bennifer) in 2005.
