Bo – or Lady Catherine Anna Brudenell-Bruce to her family – has been setting the music world alight for a while now, but has never quite managed to become a fully-fledged star, despite releasing a 5-track-EP on her own label.
Bo, whose ancestor is the infamous Earl of Cardigan who led the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854, is keen to change the public’s perception of her as an aristocrat, saying: “Although I was born into a privileged family, that spoon in my mouth was pretty rusty and not very silver.
“I don’t live in Downton Abbey. This is the 21st century. I work in a pub and struggle to pay my electricity bills just like everyone else.”
In her blind audition Bo turned the Usher and David Guetta dance track Without You on its head and gave it a Bo-esque chilled out feel. Both will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue turned their chairs for the 27-year-old, and after some serious bargaining, Bo chose to join Danny’s team.
In the battle round Bo sang With Or Without You by U2 with so much natural emotion it would have been hard not to take her through to the next round.
She was a runner up in the final of the BBC show, losing out to Leanne Mitchell.
A week after the final, she released her independent EP, Search the Night which got to number two in the iTunes chart. Shorty afterwards she signed to Mercury Records.
Sadly, her mum passed away in June 2012. Understandably, Bo cancelled her appearances at certain gigs around the UK, including T in the Park.
