Biography
Troubled R&B star Chris grew up in Virginia and has talked about his problems at home with his abusive stepdad. Music was his escape and Chris moved to New York in his teens, his obvious talents as a singer and phenomenal dancer creating a record company buzz.
Signing with Britney and Justin’s label Jive, Chris released his debut album aged 16 in late 2005. The album went platinum and his debut single Run It! went straight to number 1 in the US. Two platinum albums, 8 top ten US singles, 2 MTV awards and 8 Grammy nominations followed.
Chris’ career has since been overshadowed by an incident that occurred in February 2009, where he beat up his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The photos of her battered and bruised face shocked us all and Chris was sentenced to six months community service, five years probation, with a five year restraining order put in place.
He made several very public apologies after the trial, before going more than a little crazy on Good Morning America in March 2011. After being questioned about Rihanna, Chris tore up his dressing room, tore off his shirt, smashed a window, and fled the studios shirtless.
His comeback record F.A.M.E. was released in March 2011 and went straight to number 1 in the US. Despite his scary behaviour, Chris is set to star in upcoming romantic comedy Think Like A Man in 2012. Ironically the film is based on a bestselling relationship advice book.
