Biography
Controversial daytime radio jock Chris was born in Leeds and began his radio career while he was still at school, working at a local hospital radio station. Working his way up through local radio, he was sacked from The Pulse of West Yorkshire and fell out with DJ Dr. Fox during his time at Capital FM.
Chris’ big break came in 1997 when he landed his first Radio 1 gig, presenting the Early Breakfast Show. The following year he won the Sony DJ of the Year Award. With his “comedy” sidekick Dave Vitty, Chris moved to the regular breakfast slot, then drivetime before being moved back to the Breakfast Show to help boost ratings. This he did, adding a further 1 million listeners in his first year back in the job.
Chris has courted controversy over the years, with his on-air comments causing offence to the gay community, the Jewish community, women in general, Nicola Roberts and, well, just about everyone else. He’s been hosting his own TV show, Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night, since 2009 and has just signed a £1million contract to stay with the BBC until 2014.
Chris split up with his partner of eight years, Sophie Waite, in September 2010 and has since categorically stated that he will never date anyone out of Hollyoaks.
