Biography
First appeared in the limelight at 10 years old as a contestant on Star Search. She then appeared in The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake before getting a record deal.
Her first album was a massive success but Christina felt cheapened by the popstar image that she was forced to follow. So she sacked her manager and came back with a terrifyingly new direction with the single “Dirrty”. In the video she wears leather bondage gear and wrestles with another girl in the ring.
Her turbulent relationship with her father, who was reportedly physically and emotionally abusive towards the family, has evoked many songs from Christina.
In 2003 she opened the MTV VMA’s with Britney Spears and performed “Like a Virgin”. They were joined by Madonna half way through who just popped in to give them both a snog.
She married Jordan Bateman, a music marketing executive, in 2005 – after dating him for three years. The pair had a son in 2008 and the exclusive first baby pictures were sold to People Magazine for a reported $1.5million. Christina filed for divorce in 2010.
Huge singles from Christina include Genie in a Bottle, Fighter and Dirty, she also hosted the MTV Europe Music awards in 2003 and appeared in the film Burlesque.
