Colin became an overnight sensation and bona fide sex bomb when he played Mr. Darcy in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Colin was cast as another famous Mr. Darcy in the hugely successful Bridget Jones movies, and as an in-joke, accidentally kills a dog called Mr. Darcy in the 2007 comedy St Trinian’s.
Colin’s gone on to become a favourite British leading man in Hollywood, especially when they need somebody to squeeze into a pair of tights. He starred in The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love and Girl with a Pearl Earring before going on to win a Best Actor Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for his acclaimed performance as King George VI in the The King's Speech in 2010.
Colin has a son with his former partner and Valmont co-star Meg Tilly, he famously dated his Pride and Prejudice co-star Jennifer Ehle in real life and is now married with two sons to Italian film producer/director Livia Giuggioli.
