Biography:
His name’s Bond, James Bond. Actually, it’s Daniel Wroughton Craig, and he was born in Chester to his art teacher mum and pub landlord dad. A keen performer, Daniel began acting in school plays at age six, and at age 16 moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Daniel’s acting career got underway in the early 90’s with roles on stage and TV. But his first big break came when he landed the role of Angelina’s love interest in the big-budget Hollywood smash hit Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001. Since then he’s gone on to become one of Hollywood favourite leading men, with roles in Road to Perdition, The Golden Compass, and Stephen Spielberg’s Munich.
Daniel became an international superstar in 2005 when he was named as the next James Bond and subsequently appeared in those swimming trunks. His first Bond movie, Casino Royale, is currently the highest-grossing Bond film of all time. He’s now set to appear as the leading man in the forthcoming blockbuster The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
As for Craig’s leading ladies, he’s was married to Scottish actress Fiona Loudon for two years, dated German actress Heide Makatsch for seven years, and dated film producer Satsuki Mitchell for six before meeting Rachel Weisz. In an A-list match made in Hollywood heaven, the unbelievably gorgeous couple wed in a secret ceremony in June 2011, with only four guests in attendance.
