Biography:
Diana Vickers first came to national attention when she appeared on the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, aged 17. Simon Cowell likened her to Marmite thanks to her, erm, unique singing voice. Viewers either loved or hated her, and she made it through to the show’s semi-finals after being mentored by the lovely Cheryl.
Diana started singing at the age of 11 and took singing lessons, performing in local singing contests. She also plays the guitar and the trumpet. Following The X Factor, she was signed to a record deal and her debut album Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree peaked at number 1 in the UK album chart and resulted in three UK top 40 singles.
Besides singing folk-tinged indie numbers, Diana hit the stage in 2010, landing the leading role in the west end revival of The Rise of Little Voice. She won a Theatregoers’ Choice Award for her performance.
As well as working on tracks for her forthcoming album, Diana has been busy launching her own boho-chic-inspired fashion line, Dee V on the Very.co.uk website. She is currently dating indie rocker, male model and Emma Watson’s ex George Craig.
