Biography
Here we have one of those fancy footed cricketers, who after seeing the success of his teammate Darren Gough, clearly see reality television dancing competitions as a piece of cake. Admittedly, it will be a bit more difficult being on ice.
Dominic is a 6ft 2” Staffordshire lad who has enjoyed a successful cricketing career, representing England 69 times in total – 37 test matches and 32 One Day Internationals. In 1996 Dominic was rewarded for his fine performances by being made a Wisden Cricketer of the Year for his bowling performances in that year.
Although his international career is behind him, Cork helped to lead his county side Hampshire to last season’s Friends Provident t20 Finals day, during in which one of his deliveries resulted in the opposition player needing medical attention after he was struck in the face by the ball.
Dominic is a right arm fast-medium bowler, with better seam control than the tailors at Dancing on Ice. He is close to reaching the amazing accolade of 1,000 wickets and 10,000 runs, but at the moment he is focusing on becoming Dancing on Ice champion 2011.
Dominic is believed to be considering a new one year deal at Hampshire, however in the off-season Dominic doesn’t head straight for multi-coloured sequins and shiny lycra – at least in public anyway.
He has since moved into the world of cricket commentary, although this job isn’t normally related to political flashpoints, Dominic was one of the people caught up in the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team, in which 12 gunmen opened fire on the convoy of buses heading to the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore, 6 Sri Lankan players were injured, with two civilians dying, Dominic was fortunately unharmed.
