Star Facts

  • Her band the Spice Girls were originally called Touch
  • Emma had a cameo in Neighbours in 2007
  • She auditioned for the part of Bianca Jackson in Eastenders

Baby Spice Emma attended the Eastenders star conveyor belt that is the Sylvia Young Theatre School and briefly appeared in Eastenders in 1992 as a young mugger. She also starred in The Bill before landing her big break in 1993, joining the Spice Girls and becoming forever known as Baby Spice.

The band’s debut single Wannabe in 1996 was the first of their nine UK number ones. Three multi-platinum albums followed, two reaching number 1, as well as eleven hit singles and more than 75 million record sales. Emma and the girls disbanded in 2001 after Ginger Spice Geri quit in a huff.

Emma achieved pretty reasonable solo success, better than Posh Spice anyway. Her debut solo album A Girl Like Me debuted at number 4 in 2001 and she followed this up with two Top 10 albums, seven Top 10 singles and a number 1 hit with What Too You So Long?

In 2006, Emma came third on Strictly Come Dancing and she’s since become an occasional TV presenter, with stints on Richard & Judy, Loose Women, The X Factor and Lorraine. She reunited with the Spice Girls in 2007 for the Return of the Spice Girls tour, and a Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever, is in the works too.

Emma’s now engaged to her boyfriend since 2000, Damage singer Jade Jones. The couple have two sons, Beau Lee and Tate Lee.
