Biography
Pure pop princess Frankie Sanford grew up in Upminster, London and began taking private dance lessons after school. She later studied at a performing arts college in Romford, Essex and considered auditioning for the renowned BRIT School.
Frankie got her first big break when she took part in a kids TV talent contest on CBBC that hoped to put together a tweenie version of the then hugely successful pop group S Club 7. At age 12, Frankie auditioned alongside future Saturdays bandmate Rochelle and won a place in S Club Juniors in 2001. They later changed their name to S Club 8, perhaps to reflect the average age of their band members. They did surprisingly well chart-wise, earning 6 top ten hit singles in the UK.
S Club 8 couldn’t last though, and next Frankie joined Rochelle in auditioning for girlband The Saturdays. After a successful audition, she was selected to join Rochelle, Vanessa, Una and Mollie in what was to become one of the hottest new girlbands in the UK. They quickly signed to Fascination Records and toured with Girls Aloud. The group has released 10 singles to date, with 9 of them reaching the UK top ten. Their third album is scheduled for release in September 2011.
Frankie has branched out on her own a little more than the other Saturdays, contributing guest vocals to a track by Welsh rockers Kids In Glass Houses and appearing in their music video. She’s now an official WAG and has been dating Manchester City footballer Wayne Bridge since December 2010.
