Biography

King of the kitchen temper tantrum Gordon Ramsay was born in Johnstone in Scotland but moved to Stratford-Upon-Avon at the age of 5. His dad was hard-drinking and abusive and Gordon moved out into his own flat at the age of 16.

Football was his first love and he played for Warwickshire as a teen and tried out for Rangers but injuries kept him out of the sport professionally. By this time he’d developed an interest in cooking and decided to study hotel management at North Oxfordshire Technical College. Moving to London, Gordon worked for Marco Pierre White and moved to France for three years to study French cuisine.

Returning to London, Gordon opened his first restaurant in 1998 and has since gone on to win an astounding 12 Michelin stars. Gordon made his first appearance on TV in 1998 in Boiling Point, going on to acquire his own Channel 4 series Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares in 2004. Gordon’s fiery temper and filthy language Ushered in a new era of OTT macho cookery and telly audiences lapped it up.

Gordon’s since gone on to present Hell’s Kitchen, a US version of Hell’s Kitchen and The F-Word for Channel 4. He married Cayetana Elizabeth Hutcheson in 1996 and the couple have four children together. Rumours of affairs have cropped up over the years and Gordon’s recently admitted to a touch of plastic surgery. Did somebody say midlife crisis?
