Biography:
Inbetweeners star James was born in Croydon and it was while he was taking part in plays at primary school that he realised acting was what he wanted to do. He started attending a theatre school at weekends from the age of 7.
His first major acting roles came at age 11 when he starred in the West End in Les Miserables and Whistle Down the Wind. Then he moved into TV, with parts in The Bill, Holby City, Teachers and Skins. James’ breakthrough year came in 2008 when he landed the role of potty-mouthed, sex-obsessed, compulsive liar Jay in the cult hit E4 comedy series The Inbetweeners. Running for three series, as well as a movie in 2011, James was nominated for a BAFTA for his TV performance in 2011 too.
Alongside The Inbetweeners, James has played the young Del Boy in the Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips and Fred in the BBC Three sitcom Off the Hook. He’s currently dating Scottish model Clair Meek and the couple are expecting their first baby in autumn 2011.
