Biography
James Dean lookalike and multitalented megahunk James Franco was born in Palo Alto, CA. Brought up in an academic and liberal home, his mum an author and poet. He is of Portuguese, Swedish and Russian heritage, which could go some way to explaining those striking good looks.
A seriously bright young thing and talented mathematician, James was also a total bad boy in high school, being arrested for underage drinking, shoplifting and graffiti, coming close to doing time in juvenile hall. He went on to earn remarkably high SAT scores.
Dropping out of university to train as an actor, he worked in McDonalds before his first big break came along – a part in cult Judd Apatow TV comedy Freaks n Geeks. He’s since gone on to star in more than 40 movies, including the Spider Man franchise, Milk, and Pineapple Express, winning a Grammy for his performance as James Dean in an acclaimed TV biopic.
As well as developing an extreme form of method acting, James is now obsessed with his studies. And we mean obsessed. He has now studied creative writing, literature, filmmaking and poetry at UCLA, Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia University, Brooklyn College, North Carolina College and is currently a PhD student in English at Yale.
He is so into his studies in fact, that it caused him to split from long-term girlfriend Anha O’Reilly in July 2011. He’s since been linked to Agyness Deyn. Darn! Just when we were about to make a move too...
