Teen dream Josh was born in Kentucky and has one younger brother Connor who’s also an actor. Josh caught the acting bug at the ripe old age of four apparently, but didn’t start actively pursuing an acting career until he was nine. His very first acting role was in the pilot for the US sitcom House Blend. No further episodes were ever made though, hard luck Josh.
He then went on to star in an episode of hit medical drama ER, and to bag the lead role in Miracle Dogs, the heartwarming made-for-TV tale about a dog who successfully beats cancer. Yes, really. Better things were to come for the aspiring child actor as he began to land roles in proper Hollywood movies from 2005, including Little Manhattan, Zathura, and lending his voice to the animated Howl’s Moving Castle.
Josh’s big break came in 2006, when he won the part of Robin William’s son in the family comedy RV. He then went to on to star in the hit Disney movie Bridge to Tarabithia, but not before making yet another film about a dog. For his Bridge to Tarabithia role, Josh didn’t bother to read the book that the film was based on before he auditioned – naughty boy!
His biggest role to date has been in the Oscar-nominated The Kids Are Alright, starring alongside Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo in 2010. But the real reason Josh’s name is on everybody’s lips, aside from the fact that he’s a hunk, is that he’s currently dating High School Musical megababe Vanessa Hudgens. Cue sound of a million teenage hearts breaking.
