Biography
Justin Theroux was born and raised in Washington DC, and is nephew to travel writer Paul Theroux and cousin to journalist and documentary maker Louis Theroux.
He graduated from Bennington College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, which sparked his desire to work in visual arts. This took him to New York City where his career took a U-turn into stage acting.
He appeared in a number of Broadway productions including Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme. He also appeared in British band Muse's music video for their song Hysteria.
He made his film debut in 1996 with the film I shot Andy Warhol and went on to appear in such films as American Psycho, Zoolander and more recently as a voiceover in Dreamworks' Megamind.
The few TV parts he has played have been minimal. Appearing in single episodes of The District, Ally McBeal and Sex And The City.
However he has been quoted saying that if he were roped into a TV contract, he’d probably hang himself. Also saying that he has never been shocked by anything on television apart from the news.
Justin’s last screen appearance was in romcom Wanderlust alongside his now bride-to-be, Jennifer Aniston. These two got together in 2011 keeping their relationship very much under wraps, until he finally popped the question on his birthday. He went public about their engagement in August 2012.
An interest in stepping behind the camera has made itself apparent as he wrote the screenplay for Tropic Thunder starring Ben Stiller, Iron Man 2 and his most recent picture, Rock Of Ages.
