Hollywood actress Kate is the daughter of blonde bombshell Goldie Hawn and comedian Bill Hudson, though she was raised by her mum and step-dad Kurt Russell.
Studying at the Crossroads theatre school where she met her best friend Liv Tyler, she turned down a place at New York University for an acting career. Inheriting Goldie’s ability to light up a room, Kate had no problem landing roles.
Her first acting job came with a guest role in the hit teen drama Party of Five. Moving into movies, her first big role was in the cult 200 Cigarettes with Cristina Ricci and Courtney Love in 1999. Her major breakthrough came the following year when she starred as groupie Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s hit Almost Famous. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance and won the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe too.
Kate’s since become a firm rom-com favourite, with roles in hits like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, You, Me & Dupree alongside Matt Dillon and Owen Wilson, and My Best Friend’s Girl. She’s also branched out into edgier roles with the thriller The Skeleton Key and the acclaimed crime noir The Killer Inside Me with Casey Affleck in 2010– a far cry from her usual fluff.
Kate married Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson in 2000, divorcing in 2006. After a brief fling with A-Rod, she’s been engaged to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy since 2011 and their son Bingham was born in July 2011.
